Dutch firm Tom Tom’s subsidiary Tele Atlas maps have been incorporated into Canadian firm Averna’s Navigation Advanced Simulator (Navasim) software for GPS receiver validation.

This allows the users testing navigation functions in electronic devices to recreate road routes in the lab by pointing and clicking on Tele Atlas maps, compared to manually entering navigation waypoints.

Navasim, part of Averna’s Universal Receiver Tester line of RF products, can be used by companies making personal navigation devices and in-vehicle navigation systems to test GPS and Radio Data System-Traffic Message Channel signal reception in their receivers, the company says.

The software also allows for simulation of complex vehicle trajectories and traffic conditions across the US and Europe.
