The African Development Bank (AfDB) has provided a $36.2m grant to Togo to help upgrade a highway section.

The section will finish a missing link in the Abidjan-Lagos highway running across West Africa.

The highway project is being co-financed by the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and two regional development banks, according to Reuters.

Two decades of political and economic crises has left Togo’s road network decayed.
