Japan is to give Kenya a grant of ¥36m (US$400,000) to help them construct roads in the capital Nairobi.

The money will be used to construct three roads, which will eventually be connected to create a Nairobi Ring-Road.

Currently the city suffers from terrible congestion and with its population expected to rise from 3 million to 4.3 million by 2025, the problem is only going to get worse.

This money is part of Japan’s commitment to Africa announced at the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development in 2008.
