Telematics provider Teletrac and software provider SpeedGauge have reached an agreement whereby Teletrac will provide SpeedGauge services as an integrated component of its fleet management system.

Teletrac’s Fleet Director locates, tracks and monitors the position and operation of fleet vehicles while SpeedGauge’s web-based applications help fleet managers to identify high-risk driving behaviour and lower fleet operating costs resulting from excessive speeding.

The integration is expected to provide fleet managers with unprecedented capabilities to streamline operations and to improve safety.

Teletrac executive vice president Drew Hamilton said the partnership with SpeedGauge will enhance the benefits of Fleet Director 7.

“Our customers are looking for tools to improve operations and safe driving behaviours. SpeedGauge and Fleet Director’s integration provides both, without any disruption to the operations of customer fleets,” Hamilton said.

Excessive speed is a major factor in 30% of fatal truck accidents and crashes that result in nearly 1,600 deaths, and $6bn in lost productivity in the US each year.
