US firm AT&T and Canadian firm WebTech Wireless will provide fleet management solutions for the US state of California’s public-private transport operator Kings Area Rural Transit (KART), to help improve its rural transportation.

The solution can improve the safety and security of the transportation system, detects poor driving practices, real-time speeding alerts, hands-free voice communication, remote tire pressure and engine diagnostics monitoring, as well as helping to cut emissions, according to WebTech.

The work will involve installing the system, which includes a wireless vehicle tracking and management solution, in more than 450 KART vanpool vehicles operating in over eight counties of San Joaquin Valley.

WebTech Wireless GPS Locators installed in each passenger van will send vehicle location and diagnostics data over AT&T’s wireless network to the Quadrant fleet management system.
