Izmit Bay Car Ferry has installed Aselsan’s electronic toll collection technology on the Marmara Sea.

The Turkey-based Aselsan’s deployment involves an open tolling system on two ferry stations where vehicles are tolled based on their length and height.

A total of six remote-controlled toll lanes on two stations uses cash or Turkey’s national toll system card for toll payment, according to itsinternational.com.

The ferry tolling system also counts the number of vehicles transported by each ferry vehicle using barcoded ticket that has vehicle specific information.

The route connecting Istanbul to southern destinations is used by around 10,000 vehicles during weekdays and up to 17,000 at weekends.
