Over 1,000 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed throughout Malaysia to catch traffic violators, the Department of Road safety’s (JKJR) director said. Work is expected to begin in stages from May and finish by September, according to bernama.com.

The cameras would be installed at selected locations particularly at traffic lights, with installation planned at ten locations in Perak and Selangor.

According to a survey carried out by JKJR in Malaysia, 30% of the accidents are caused by mechanical problems, 30% are due to road conditions and 40% are due to human error.
