Canadian firm International Road Dynamics (IRD) will deploy a high-speed weigh-in-motion (WIM) pre-clearance system in New Brunswick, Canada.

The system, to be installed on the eastbound lanes of Route No. 2 near the Salisbury Weigh Scale Facility, will weigh and classify commercial vehicles as they travel at highway speeds.

It will feature single load cell WIM Scales, piezoelectric sensors, licence plate readers, side-view image cameras, operator interface, and system electronics.

The C$1.06m ($1.56m) contract to design, supply, install, and maintain the system has been awarded by New Brunswick Department of Transportation.

The contract is scheduled to finish by October 2010.
