India’s first systematic and technically designed road noise barriers will be installed in the city of Mumbai.

A 1.15km stretch will be constructed at Bandra-Kurla Complex and Kala Nagar following a study by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The installation is scheduled to be completed in six months.

MMRDA had awarded the Rs8.68 crore ($2m) contract to Fracasso earlier this year after the study on a 4km stretch of the Bandra-Kurla Link Road showed the noise levels ranging from 65 to 98 decibels.
