Jamaica’s Bogue road rehabilitation project will receive $500m in the 2010/11 fiscal year, funded jointly by the Jamaican Government OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

The fund to upgrade the Bogue Road will support the North Coast Highway Improvement Project.

The money will be used for completing land acquisition, boundary fences and civil works.

It is expected to bring down the current traffic congestion and improve safety on the corridor.

The project is scheduled for completion in May 2011.

Meanwhile, $618.9m has been granted for the construction of the Hope River Bridge.

The project will rehabilitate portions of the main road system and secure physical continuity of the primary road network.

The project, chiefly funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, is scheduled to be completed in March 2012.
