The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has provided a fund of $24.8m for public transportation in America’s national parks, forests and wildlife refuges.

Funds will be distributed to national parks, forests and wildlife refuges in 20 states as part of the Paul S Sarbanes Transit in Parks Program.

The US National Park Service, the US Forest Service and the US Fish and Wildlife Service will receive funds for 46 projects.

The projects will include buying new diesel buses at Yosemite National Park in California and ferry improvements at Gulf Island National Seashore in Florida.

It will also include visitor shuttle buses in Mount Rainier National Park and bus stop improvements in Arcadia National Park in Maine.
