Russia’s ministry of transport is planning to relaunch its million-dollar federal, regional and municipal road funding system.

The proposed plan is expected to bring together road construction, repairs and maintenance funds.

Automobile and tyre import duties, VAT charges on foreign-made car sales and a tariff on roadside advertisements will support the road funds, according to worldhighways.com.

The road funds are expected to allow for inking 12-year contracts.

The plan will also see the federal budget allotting $9.36bn for roads in 2010.
