A temporary bridge replacing the Northside bridge damaged in the 2009 floods in Workington, UK, has been opened to traffic.

The £4.6m ($7m) two-lane temporary crossing, known as Jansen Bridge, weighs 350t and spans the River Derwent.

The replacement bridge is expected to be used until the Cumbrian town gets two permanent crossings over the river.

Construction work on the permanent replacements is underway, according to the BBC.
