The Nigerian state of Jigawa has spent N22bn ($144m) in three years on road projects in the state.

The state administration said the first and the second phase of the road network project has already been completed.

The projects involved renovation and construction of roads, facilitating a better flow of goods and services.

New roads are expected to bring down the number of road fatalities in Jigawa state, according to leadershipnigeria.com.

Provisions for the third phase of the road projects are included in the 2010 state budget.
