Governor of New York David Paterson has announced a federal aid package of $2bn for the transport projects across the US state.

This is expected to fully fund the state’s 124 road-construction projects, according to wgrz.com.

The funding is also intended to enable the work on 219 other local projects.

The governor had earlier released only the road-project aid under a federal stimulus programme.

Further funds for the projects are expected to be issued once the state adopts a budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year.
