Bridges on the first interchange of the Sheikh Zayed Road Project (SZR) in Dubai, UAE, will be opened to traffic on 30 May.

The SZR’s first interchange work involved construction of tranverse bridges, 3km-long bridges and an 850m-long tunnel.

It also included building another tunnel behind Mazaya Centre and improving a few interchanges.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be AED617m ($168m), according to business24-7.ae.

All the project construction works are expected to be completed by December 2010.

Italian company Salini is handling the project.
