Nigeria is planning to award contracts to build coastal roads in the Niger Delta region for NGN1tn ($6.6bn).

Nigerian minister for the Niger Delta Godsday Orubebe said the project would be a ten-lane road linking the oil-producing communities in the region.

The coastal road project will be awarded in the next month, Orubebe said.

The planned road is expected to run through the southern Bayelsa state to Ondo state in the southwest, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
