The California Transportation Commission in the US said it will invest $668m on 79 transportation projects statewide.

A total of $16.7m has been allocated to widen State Route 4 East from four to eight lanes in the Bay area.

A $83m project will also see the extension of State Route 99 from four lanes to six lanes in the Central Valley region.

Construction of four new bridges, restoration of 14 existing bridges and 40-lane miles of pavement, and the building of 5,000ft of sound walls are expected to be part of this project.

Another $92m project will see the resurfacing of 84-lane miles of pavement on Interstate 5 in Sacramento.

About $516m of the allocation is funded by state and federal transportation departments.
