StarTraq technology is being employed by the Police Service of Northern Ireland to crack down on speeding motorists and traffic collisions in the region.

The UK-based StarTraq’s offence management system will help the police issue graduated penalties based on the severity of the offence.

Drivers committing minor offences are expected to get driver education courses rather than fines and penalty points under the new road safety initiative.

StarTraq combines data from various existing sources, including speed cameras and police issued tickets, to asses the most suitable punishment for the driver.

The system is already used by police forces across the UK to help reduce the number of serious road accidents.
