Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has completed the first phase of the Lekki-Epe Peninsular road project in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Public Private Partnership project, awarded by the Lagos State Government, involves designing, financing, operating and maintaining the Lekki toll road under a 30-year concession.

The first phase of the project involved building a 20km coastal road, rehabilitating and upgrading an existing road and creating new road infrastructure along 49.4km of Lekki express way.

LCC will also operate the toll on the Lekki-Epe peninsular road from August this year, which consists of a 24-hour free toll call line, an accident rescue team and automobile services, according to allafrica.com.

The tolling system is expected to use electronic devices fitted into cars that are capable of receiving signals from electronic sensors installed at the toll plazas.
