Uganda National Roads Authority has awarded the Malaba-Busia-Bugiri road project to SBI International Holdings.

The Israel-based company is expected to carry out design and construction works for the rehabilitation of roads at a total cost of UGX121bn($52m).

The 82.5km route is expected to be part of the northern corridor, which stretches from the Kenyan port of Mombasa to Kampala and the Great Lakes region.

Construction work on the project is scheduled to begin in September this year, according to newvision.co.ug.
