Road mortality rates in the UAE dropped by 21% and injuries by 23% in the first six months of 2010 compared to the same period last year.

Accidents such as collisions, running over by vehicles and injury caused by vehicles turning over is also expected to have fallen by 25%, according to gulfnews.com.

Of the seven emirates in UAE, traffic accidents in Abu Dhabi have declined by 26%, i.e, from 1,631 in the first six months of 2009 to 1,211 in the same half of 2010.

In the UAE city of Dubai, the number of people who died and were wounded in traffic accidents has declined by 25% and 51% respectively.
