ConCreate USL has won the C$45m ($43.5m) contract to construct the eight-lane Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge across the Rideau River in Canada.

The 143m-long bridge is expected to have sidewalk and bicycle lanes in either direction and two vehicle lanes reserved for buses and two as left-hand turn lanes.

The bridge is to be complete by early 2012, is part of a C$105m ($101.6m) project that also includes upgrades to roadways approaching the bridge, according to Ottawa Business Journal.

The new crossing is intended to relieve congestion, provide an extra entrance and exit to a suburban neighborhood and reduce journey time to the Ottawa International Airport.
