The UK city of Southampton has awarded a £100m ($154m) contract to Balfour Beatty to improve the condition of its highways by 10%.

The UK-based company will operate Southampton City Council’s highways division for ten years, with an option for a five-year extension.

Resurfacing work on 353 miles of road is estimated to cost £85m ($131m) while the contract is expected to save the council £10.2m ($16m) in road improvement investments.
