The Lowari Tunnel project in Pakistan, with a construction cost of PKR8bn ($92m), will be completed by 2012.

The proposed Lowari Tunnel will have a total length of 8.8km, height measuring 7.14m and a width of 7.55m, according to geo.tv.

The tunnel is being constructed between Pakistani towns of Dir and Mirkhani, and will be the only road link between Chitral valley and other parts of the country.

Pakistan is also planning to build an elevated Khushal Garh Bridge to interconnect the southern parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and its Punjab provinces.
