Bilfinger Berger’s subsidiary Valemus has won two contracts for the expansion of highway sections in Australia, with a total value of €170m ($220m).

The first project involves construction of an 8.6km, four-lane bypass in the southern part of the Pacific Highway in the state of New South Wales, which is scheduled to open in 2012.

Work on the new highway section involves the construction of twelve bridges, a major interchange and several kilometres of noise barriers.

The company’s second contract is to design and build a 4.2km section of the Bruce Highway in Queensland with a proposed completion period of two years.
