Most US citizens support tolls on roads and bridges to generate transportation revenue, according to a new HNTB survey.

The HNTB THINKS survey noted that 84% of those surveyed feel tolls should be considered as a primary source of transportation revenue.

When given a choice between road tolling, increased petrol tax and no new roads at all, 41% of respondents preferred tolling, 41% favoured no new roads, while only 18% preferred an increase in taxation.

The study also found that most Americans favoured focusing on fixing existing infrastructure rather than building new roads.
