UK-based traffic technology company Traffic Security Systems (TSS) has delivered 449 Radar Autovision systems for use in Romanian police vehicles.

Radar Autovision is a vehicle-mounted digital CCTV system, which combines radar speed measurement with digital recording and playback of CCTV evidence.

The systems were installed by Romanian partner UTI, which will also take responsibility for maintenance of the devices and training police units on their use.

The TSS systems are intended for use by the Romanian police to help prosecute drivers guilty of speeding and other dangerous driving offences.

TSS marketing director Ron Coleman described the deal as a landmark for the company, highlighting that it was the largest single order the company had ever completed.

“As a new fully fledged member of the EU, the Romanian Police were naturally keen to upgrade to digital mobile CCTV technology to bring them into line with forces in other EU countries,” he said.
