Navteq has launched a new traffic technology system in Brazil that delivers comprehensive, real-time traffic information.

The Navteq Traffic system links real-time traffic information to map data and enables wireless transmission directly to in-vehicle navigation systems, personal navigation devices and mobile phones.

The new system delivers detailed information about current traffic conditions, allowing drivers to make better routing and re-routing decisions and save time, according to the company.

Navteq has also included data sources such as GPS probe data from consumer devices, including Nokia handsets.

The new solution is currently available in six major cities in Brazil, which include Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Curitiba and Porto Alegre.
