New research has revealed that 66% of motorists fear roads in some parts of the UK will become more dangerous with the deactivation of speed cameras, following government cuts.

Research by data firm RoadPilot indicated that nearly 3% of all fixed speed detection cameras have been switched off or removed.

With an increasing number of camera partnerships and councils deactivating the cameras, motorists are becoming concerned about the implications for road safety.

The firm says that drivers need to be even more aware of the road’s speed limits and alert to other motorists as more cameras are turned off.
