"The maintenance works are part of the DoT’s plan to annually invest AED115m ($31.3m) to enhance road users’ safety."

The latest set of works comes after the completion of the first phase of the project in April.

During the first phase, the DoT repaired cracks and depression of asphalt pavement layers on an area of 65,000m².

According to DoT main roads general manager Faisal Al Suwaidi, the repair and maintenance works came as part of regular and ongoing improvements and of strategic objectives at keeping Abu Dhabi road in the best condition possible at all time.

Al Suwaidi further explained that this process of re-paving will help increase the road’s life span, and provide more protection for its infrastructure, while the DoT can also avoid the higher cost of later repair in the event cracks and depressions increase in the future.
