Balfour Beatty Fleet Services (BBFS), a UK-based fleet management and fleet contract hire services company, has entered into a partnership with Masternaut to deliver a new telematics service that caters to the varied needs of its fleet.

The new partnership with Masternaut, a European telematics provider, is expected to bring BBFS closer to its zero harm ethos, which means zero fatalities, zero permanently disabling injuries to its personnel and a goal of zero accidents and injuries across all its operating companies.

Managed under a central framework agreement, the new deal will see to it that all Balfour Beatty operating companies can adapt vehicle telematics for their specific purpose.

Under the terms of the contract, Masternaut will deliver the right mobile workforce management system with the potential to provide ROI in a number of different areas.

To meet BBFS’s zero harm commitment needs, as part of the partnership, Masternaut has already provided Balfour Beatty with a full product portfolio beyond vehicle tracking, including driver behaviour products that manage driver performance, lessen fuel costs and improve driver safety.

The Masternaut Driver Behaviour Products include essential duty of care and fuel management functionality, help lower carbon footprint, reduce costs and take in safety obligations. The products work with the help of real-time data with the Masternaut vehicle tracking solution.

Masternaut also deployed temporary tracking devices for plant and machinery, including specific hardware configured for plant security.

Masternaut deployed traditional telematics for operational control and provided a telematics-enabled tool-kit to manage productivity.

The telematics provider offered project management and consultancy services to BBFS to ensure that the right products were deployed to the operating businesses.

BBFS runs close to 8,000 vehicles in the country and is the ninth largest fleet operator in the UK.Masternaut delivers a wide range of telematics products, services and R&D capability in Europe and serves 10,000 customers.
