This funding is part of the government's commitment towards green transport. Over £300m has been committed to supporting cycling and walking.

The government will provide approximately £6bn for local road maintenance till 2021, which will benefit cyclists and motorists.

By 2050, the government plans for vehicles to meet zero emission standards. For this, it has allocated £2bn since 2011 for green transport schemes.
