The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), an agency governed by the government of Philippines, has revealed that it will begin construction of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Road Network improvement project.

DPWH undertakes planning and maintenance of national roads and bridges, as well as major flood control systems in the country.

DPWH secretary Mark Villar said: “The UP Diliman Road Network Improvement involves the construction of 12 roads within the campus.

"This include the streets of Ylanan, Roces, Laurel, Archery, R.P. De Guzman, E. Jacinto, E. De Los Santos, Pardo De Tavera, Africa, Quirino Ma. Guerrero and the Rotunda.

“The opening of the recently completed Ylanan Road provides students, motorists from C.P. Garcia and Katipunan access to Commonwealth Ave without having to go to Quezon City Circle.”

Villar, along with UP President Danilo Concepcion, has also held groundbreaking ceremonies for Jacinto road, a 826 meter access road from CP Garcia.

"When completed, an improved Jacinto Road would provide better access to UP Diliman, Katipunan, CP Garcia and Commonwealth Avenue."

Villar added: “When completed, an improved Jacinto Road would provide better access to UP Diliman, Katipunan, CP Garcia and Commonwealth Avenue.”

Concepcion said: "The UP Diliman Road Network Improvement is the first step towards our goal of providing our students the best facilities.

"We look forward to a strong partnership with DPWH in executing an ambitious blueprint for UP."
