Drivewyze, a US-based provider of technology services for the transportation industry, has launched its automated commercial vehicle bypass service in Nevada, US.

Drivewyze PreClear is a bypass service that uses smartphone, tablet and certain electronic on-board recorder (EOBR) technologies to offer commercial vehicles inspection site bypass opportunities.

The programme, which is the first weigh station bypass service provided in Nevada, offers bypass services across all mobile inspection sites in 11 vital locations in the state.

The new technology will offer a safer and more efficient highway for commercial drivers, the company said.

Drivewyze president Brian Heath said the latest move marks the expansion of the company’s automated bypass service to the western part of the US.

"Drviewyze PreClear is now active in 15 states and our plan is to keep growing across America by offering a safe, easy and affordable way to get bypass services to as many commercial fleets in as many locations as possible," Heath said.

The new technology does not require deployment of poles or transponders, but it leverages cellular networks and the internet to enable tablets, smartphones and EOBRs with a functionality that is similar to a transponder.

Nevada currently has nearly 34,624 miles of highway without permanent fixed inspection facilities, and mobile roving enforcement and temporary inspection locations are being used to meet state and federal objectives.

Drivewyze PreClear, which is considered to be the only bypass program to offer mobile inspection site bypass, is expected to help Nevada trucker drivers make on-time deliveries.

The service is being provided to drivers and fleets in Nevada, starting at $12.99 per month for the interstate service.

Launched in September 2012, Drivewyze PreClear services provide an automated bypass solution for both permanent and mobile inspection sites, extending bypass services to local, low-volume and remote weigh stations and ports of entry.
