American parking management products and services company Duncan Solutions has entered into a partnership with US-based Transaction Network Services (TNS) to introduce Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) Adoption for unattended parking payments in Australia.

The duo will provide Australia’s local council operators with new EMV-certified payment acceptance equipment and card present transaction processing for Duncan’s network of parking metres throughout the country.

Duncan is working with TNS and local banks to EMV-certify its new generation of Pay and display and pay by space metres.

Duncan equipment will use EMVCo-certified readers and software, as well as the TNS PCI DSS-certified Secure Payments Network to offer secure and highly available processing and authorisation of card payments.

The TNS Secure Payments Network is a global network designed particularly for the delivery of card-based payment transaction information.

The upgrade will allow the country’s local council operators to reduce the cost of processing by moving from card not present (CNP) transactions to EMV-certified card present transactions.

Duncan Solutions Asia Pacific general manager Trent Loebel said TNS’ relationships with the domestic banks and international card schemes are one of the key factors for this partnership.

"The TNS EMV processing solution will enable our Council operator customers to reduce their processing costs and continue to refresh their equipment to schedule with certainty around their compliance status," Loebel added.

TNS is planning to complete its end-to-end EMV certification with the Australian banks in the coming months.

Founded in 1936, Duncan Solutions operates as a subsidiary of Reino International and provides parking management equipment to municipal and commercial clients across the world.

Transaction Network Services is a global provider of data communications and interoperability solutions, and currently offers services in more than 60 countries in the Americas, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
