INRIX, a provider of traffic information and intelligent driver services, has developed a new traffic application for Android users.

Launched to help drivers fight rising gas prices, the INRIX Traffic app will not only provide daily updated fuel price information on more than 100,000 gas stations across the US, but also offer information on how to locate the cheapest gas stations along the route.

It also offers drivers with up-to-the-minute traffic maps for 1 million miles of highways, interstates and city streets in the country.

The app features a forecast slider that displays how traffic conditions and travel times are expected to change over the next eight hours, which aims to help users reach their destination on time.

INRIX Traffic app for Android provides data on school schedules, sporting events, conventions, concerts and other traffic impacting events.

With the help of the new app, drivers can share arrival times with any contact in their phone through an auto-generated email or text message.

The app can also be customised individual travel requirements so that users get alerts on accidents and other delays on the routes.

The users of the premium version of INRIX Traffic app for Android will have access to more tools and features, such as an option to add any number of destinations and view traffic conditions through INRIX’s network of more than 10,000 traffic cameras.

INRIX generates traffic information by analysing real-time data from several public and private sources, such as road sensors and incident reports, in addition to crowd-sourced data.

Headquartered in the US, INRIX operates global traffic intelligence platforms to deliver smart data and analytics for a traffic community of approximately 100 million drivers.
