Smart Parking System

Nedap and Vialis have entered into a collaboration to introduce smart parking system SENSIT in the Dutch city of Zoetermeer.

SENSIT, developed and manufactured by Nedap, is a network of wireless parking sensors that detect vehicle occupancy across a number of parking spaces.

The system collects parking data and shares the information with third-party parking guidance, enforcement and intelligent traffic management systems.

Operating through wireless sensors, SENSIT quickly directs motorists to free parking spaces through real-time parking availability information on electronic displays alongside access roads to the city center.

The parking data will also be made available through a smartphone app and via navigation systems in vehicles.

"The system collects parking data and shares the information with third-party parking guidance, enforcement and intelligent traffic management systems."

Scheduled to be fully operational by mid-October 2013, the new smart parking system provides its data to Zoetermeer’s intelligent traffic management system.

Nedap currently works with partners and cities across the world to implement the SENSIT system.

Nedap designs, develops and sells services related to vehicle identification, wireless parking detection, smart city access control and hands-free building access control.

Vialis supplies cities with solutions for dynamic traffic management, Vivaldi, to optimise traffic flow.
