Parkeon, a France-based provider of parking and transport management services, has entered into a partnership with US parking metres manufacturer POM to provide a mixed parking metre solution to cities, universities and operators in the US.

The companies noted that the new mixed metre service will cater to the demands of organisations that are in need of a joint solution for multi and single-space parking metres.

Parkeon US president Chris Octon said that the company believes POM is the right partner for it to provide a good solution to meet the current demand.

"We have seen a switch in the marketplace where clients are asking for both multi-space and single space meters as part of the same parking operation," Octon added.

Multi-space parking metres provide more customer-friendly features, such as on-screen instructions and credit cards acceptance, compared to traditional single-space parking metres.

Both Parkeon and POM offer parking metre services that are solar powered, wireless and credit-card enabled.

In this new collaboration, the duo will work together to combine their systems and provide clients with a sole back-office system in order to increase efficiencies.

Parkeon is a global provider of parking and transport management solutions and was the first company to install multi-space metres in the US.

Along with its headquarters in Paris, the company has a presence in 50 countries and 3,000 cities across the globe, employing more than 1,100 people.

POM is the one of oldest manufacturers of parking metre systems, with its first parking metre launched in 1935.
