Global parking information provider Parkopedia has announced that it has been selected to provide parking information services to BMW.

Under the new contract, Parkopedia will provide BMW with access to its knowledgebase of more than 26,000 parking facilities across North America, 42,000 in Europe and dynamic space availability in around 300 cities.

Parkopedia CEO Eugene Tsyrklevich said that in the present age of the connected car, drivers’ access to dynamic parking information has become a necessity.

"We are extremely excited and honoured to work with such a renowned and well respected company such as BMW," Tsyrklevich said.

"In the present age of the connected car, drivers’ access to dynamic parking information has become a necessity."

In May 2013, Parkopedia announced that its parking data has been selected by Inrix for its 2013 range of the Lexus IS model.

Under the agreement, the in-car parking service will provide information for more than 42,000 parking spaces, including real-time space availability, and will direct Lexus IS drivers to low-cost parking close to their chosen destination.

Parkopedia, a UK-based parking information provider, is used by millions of drivers every month.

It provides comprehensive information on nearly 28 million parking spaces in 40 countries across the world, helping motorists find the nearest parking location to their destination.

The service also provides information on cost and whether spaces are available.

Users can also contribute to the website by providing rating and reviewing parking locations, as well as adding missing parking spaces and parking-related information.
