Dinosaur Capital Partners and Streetline have collaborated to set-up ‘Green Park & Charge’, a smart parking and charging facility for electric vehicles (EV) in Boston in Massachusetts, US.

Located in the Bulfinch Triangle area in downtown Boston, Green Park & Charge parking platform will be the city’s first fully dedicated facility for electric cars.

Dinosaur Capital founding partner Scott Oran said with Green Park & Charge, they will not only transform a brownfield gas station site into an eco-friendly facility, but their goal, working with Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Boston Transportation Department, is to encourage green driving alternatives.

"We are pleased to be collaborating with Streetline to tap the latest in smart parking technology to provide real-time parking availability to Boston motorists (…) particularly those looking to find available EV charging facilities," Oran added.

Streetline CEO Zia Yusuf said: "Green Park & Charge will be a state-of-the art parking facility that will become a showcase as other developers across the country look to build eco-friendly parking facilities – and help the US reach its goal of becoming the first country with more than one million electric vehicles on the road by 2015."

Motorists can access information about open parking spaces available at Green Park & Charge, as well as about the availability of EV charging stations through a network of ultra-low power wireless sensors located in each parking space.

This information is delivered to the drivers via a suite of web and mobile applications including Streetline’s free smartphone application, Parker. The application’s built in timer helps motorists keep a track of time left for charging and find the vehicle in the parking space.
