Iteris, provider of intelligent traffic management information solutions, has secured a traffic signal synchronisation services contract from the city of Anaheim in California, US.

The traffic signal synchronisation is expected to improve passengers’ overall travel experience, reducing delays and stops.

Iterieswill deploy intelligent transportation system (ITS) upgrades and optimised traffic signal timing along the route of Lincoln Avenue / Nohl Ranch Road, via the Anaheim and Orange cities.

Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait spoke of working with the City of Orange, California Department of Transportation and Orange County Transportation Authority to improve the flow of both vehicle and bus traffic along Lincoln Avenue, with traffic signal coordination through Anaheim and to its neighbours in the adjacent cities.

"All of this starts with delivering reliable travel times to connect people to the community," Tait added.

The company will also procure the equipments, integrate and design the signal timings, implement, and support services for 46 intersections of the city.

Iteris president and CEO Abbas Mohaddes said the signal coordination project is intended to improve the safety of the intersections, while providing a better travel experience through reduced travel times, stops and delays.

"These are three key elements in effective traffic management and represent the value proposition we provide our partners like the City of Anaheim," Mohaddes added.

The contract is valued at approximately $974,000 and the project work is expected to start immediately.
