Fastned has selected SolarEdge’s technology for its network of 200 electric car fast-charging stations across the Netherlands.

The network will be strategically spread across the country’s highways, and will be partly powered by 3MW of distributed solar power.

With the help of SolarEdge’s module-level monitoring system, Fastned gathers real-time performance data on each individual module, along with immediate alerts on any irregularities that may occur, highlighted on a virtual site map.

"SolarEdge took a new look at traditional PV systems and its simple solution of module-level optimisation is revolutionising the industry, just as Fastned plans to transform transportation."

The service delivers increased system uptime by enabling Fastned to monitor all of its 200 fast-charging electric stations from a single centralised location.

Fastned operations manager Joost Hoffman said: "SolarEdge took a new look at traditional PV systems and its simple solution of module-level optimisation is revolutionising the industry, just as Fastned plans to transform transportation."

Deployed by Solar Today, the project comprises 10kWp and 20kWp PV stations that include 20 and 40 power optimisers respectively and one SolarEdge inverter.

Solar Today installed P600 power optimisers, SolarEdge’s one power optimiser per two panel solution, that is specifically designed to reduce the costs of large projects.

SolarEdge’s technology allowed Fastned to double the string length compared with a conventional inverter, decreasing the amount of strings by 50%.

Speaking about the development, SolarEdge marketing and product strategy VP Lior Handelsman said: "This project continues the positive trend of SolarEdge penetration into the strategic Dutch PV market."
