Vietnam has allocated VND9.2tn ($441.6m) for the construction of My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway, which passes through two Cuu Long (Mekong) delta provinces, Vinh Long and Dong Thap.

The expressway will be constructed by Cuu Long CIPM and will be funded by the state budget, official development assistance (ODA) and other sources.

The project involves the construction of a 25m-wide, six-lane road allowing vehicles to travel at a speed of 120km/h.

The 25km expressway will offer a transport link in the south-western Vietnam provinces and is expected to boost economic development in the region.

The construction is expected to commence next year and will be completed by 2014.
