Carbon-fibre battery enclosures for vehicles
TRB’s expertise has recently been utilised in the development of carbon fibre battery boxes for next-generation fuel cell vehicles, ranging from high-speed supercars to coaches and commercial vehicles.
The lightweight battery trays can be designed and manufactured in any shape or size, as well as include bonded inserts and thermal management properties without compromising the structural integrity.
Using a combination of the right materials, knowledge and experience, we bring a strong understanding of design concepts, material composition, and manufacturing processes. This allows us to advise customers through their options, engineer optimal solutions, and thoroughly test the outcome.
High-strength, lightweight composite materials
TRB’s expertise spans composites, high-strength metals, cores, adhesives, standard aluminium, steel fabrications and bio-based materials, including a ‘Bio’ composite pre-impregnated system.
The Bio system combines high-strength fabrics with a bio-based resin system, which is extracted from natural waste byproduct and obtained from the manufacture of sugar.
Not only is it non-toxic and does not use volatile organic solvents, but it also produces a lightweight and durable composite assembly that offers fire resistance in accordance with all fire, smoke and toxicity retardant material (FST) requirements.
TRB aims to provide the transport industry with a bio-based, non-toxic alternative to carcinogenic materials currently available on the market.
