Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open new bridges leading to the Dubai Mall Zabeel parking building on 29 October.

The bridges will lead to the entry and exit points of the multi-level parking building.

One of the bridges will connect the parking building to the upper level of Financial Centre Street while another will link the parking building to Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah.

A footbridge will also be opened to connect the parking area with the Dubai Mall.

Bridges connecting the upper level of the Financial Centre Street and The Dubai Mall’s cinema parking are currently in the final stages of construction and will also open soon.

RTA director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors Mattar Al Tayer said: “The project undertaken by RTA in collaboration with Emaar Properties covers the construction of bridges extending 1860m with width varying between 4.5m and 10m.

“Bridges connect entry / exit points of the Financial Centre Street with the cinema parking at Dubai Mall and the new Zabeel parking building.

“Works also include a footbridge measuring 210m x 17m and a vehicles bridge measuring 360m x 9m linking Zabeel parking building with Dubai Mall in addition to lighting and utility works.”

The project complements the existing bridge connecting Al Khail Road and the Financial Centre Street that the RTA completed in coordination with Emaar.

The existing bridge, which was extended from the interchange of Ras Al Khor and Al Khail Roads to the Financial Centre Street, was built on single columns over Dubai Water Canal.

The bridge linking Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street (FSC) streamlined the traffic flow at junctions leading to Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard.

It has increased street capacity to 4,500 vehicles every hour at rush hours, relieving pressure on the area’s roads.
