The Renault-Nissan Alliance has partnered with Transdev to jointly develop an advanced driverless mobility system that will enhance the existing public and on-demand transport systems in Paris.

Under the agreement, the companies will develop electric driverless vehicles and a modular transportation system that will allow clients to book rides, as well as mobility operators to monitor and operate self-driving car fleets.

The alliance partners will also conduct field test on Paris-Saclay using Renault ZOE electric vehicles, and Transdev's on-demand dispatch, supervision and routing platform, as part of the contract.

In a move to support the improvement of roads and bridges in Pennsylvania, PennDOT, the state’s transportation department, has announced $466.2m in liquid fuels payments for the certified municipalities.

TomTom (TOM2) has announced a new partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to work on a project to crowdsource high-definition map data.

The deal enables TOM2’s HD Map for autonomous vehicles to take advantage of new data generated through Qualcomm’s new chip that will be used in car sensors.

Qualcomm’s new platform, Drive Data, will perform car sensor analysis and deliver map snippets based on camera input.

While TomTom’s HD Map enables autonomous vehicles to accurately locate themselves, TOM2 uses Qualcomm’s map snippets for maintenance purpose.

Highways England (HE) has appointed Kier, a construction company based in the UK, to offer £40m ($49.1m)-worth design services to the South West region for a period of five years.

The contractual scope includes developing technical designs and providing supporting work for capital projects, from initial scheme feasibility phase through to as-build phase.
