BEKA Schréder Luminaires and Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) Poles for Road Applications
BEKA Schréder is Africa’s leading manufacturer of luminaires and glass reinforced polyester (GRP) poles.
Using modern technologies, we optimise the optical and mechanical design of luminaires, as well as supply intelligent and sustainable solutions that minimise energy consumption and the overall cost of ownership.
Our GRP poles have been installed all over Southern, East and West Africa, as well as in South-East Asia and Australia.
Glass-reinforced polyester poles for road traffic applications
BEKA Schréder GRP poles are available in lengths of up to 14m.
With a wide range of applications, the BEKAPOLE can be manufactured to any requirement relating to the number and configuration of luminaires required.
Our GRP poles are typically used in floodlighting or lighting applications on public and private areas such as roads, residential areas, parks and gardens.
Adaptable, corrosion and vandal-resistant GRP poles
BEKA Schréder’s GRP poles offer corrosion resistance, longevity and cost-efficiency, making them popular in road traffic applications as they ensure a safer environment.
In addition, the highly vandal-resistant BEKAPOLE has significant impact strength and our unique access door design efficiently prevents any unauthorised access.
The pole is available with a variety of configurations and mounting options, namely buried, surface-mounted, hinged or winched variants.
Filament winding manufacturing process
BEKA Schréder manufactures its GRP poles using the reliable filament winding method.
This process ensures the necessary tensile and bending strength to adhere to the stringent requirements of SABS 1749, South Africa’s quality standard for GRP poles.
The filament winding process fully utilises the inherent strength of a glass filament as it is higher than steel, as well as ensures a continuously tapered finish.
The GRP poles are finished with a gel coat layer to meet the requirements of the customers and achieve a smooth colour-impregnated finish.
About BEKA Schréder
Established in 1978, BEKA Schréder initially manufactured corrosion-resistant GRP poles and public lighting luminaires for adverse environments.
In 1989, we were the first lighting company in South Africa to be awarded ISO 9000 certification and this commitment to quality has enabled us to become a leading luminaire manufacturer.
We became a wholly owned Schréder company in 2013, which allows us to continue to deliver the highest levels of service and innovative lighting solutions.
