Axis Communications AB, a Swedish manufacturer of network cameras, has introduced six new models under the AXIS Q60 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series.

The cameras offer coverage of wide areas, provide high-detail when zooming in, and come with high-light sensitivity and dynamics, thereby making it suitable for city surveillance, airports, train stations, etc.

The focus recall feature is available in AXIS Q6052/-E and AXIS Q6054/-E. This feature offers instant focus in predefined areas, thereby making it easier to use a PTZ camera optimally even in challenging light conditions.

Due to the focus recall feature, there is no requirement to manually focus or wait for the autofocus to adjust, a step that otherwise would take several seconds.

Focus recall is also particular beneficial in scenarios with low-contrast and point-shaped light sources.

The new cameras are the first in AXIS Q60 Series to offer Zipstream, a H.264 compatible compression technology that cuts down bandwidth and storage requirements by up to 50% even during camera movements.

AXIS Q6055/-E is equipped with several built-in Axis video analytic applications for greater efficiency.

Axis Communications global product manager Kent Fransson said: “With these new PTZ cameras, we have raised the bar again in terms of performance and efficiency.

“The new features are ideally suited for the most demanding surveillance applications, both in regards to the required image quality as well as the cameras’ operating conditions.

"With the addition of the highly efficient Zipstream technology, users will benefit from significant cost savings and bandwidth efficiency."

AXIS Q60 cameras deliver up to 36x optical zoom and up to 1080p resolution, based on model. They all include day / night functionality, WDR and a memory card slot.

The indoor models come with two-way audio, audio detection, I/O ports, and 24 V AC/DC power and IP52-rated protection against dust and dripping water.
