TomTom has launched the new TomTom GO series, its re-designed portable navigation device (PND) in the US and Canada.

The new range includes TomTom Traffic which provides accurate traffic information on where delays begin and end, assisting drivers in reaching their destinations faster on a daily basis.

"Drivers in the US lose an average of eight working days per year due to traffic congestion."

Drivers can download the free TomTom MyDrive mobile app on their smartphones and can access the app through their existing smartphone data plan.

TomTom managing director Jocelyn Vigreux said: "We are empowering drivers with an essential daily driving tool that provides access to accurate, real-time traffic information to aid their every day commute.

The new series features also interactive map and 3D maps for easy access for travel information, jam warning, road closure detection, road works detection, lifetime aaps, speak and GO, route car, quick search and my places.

The new TomTom GO range will be unveiled at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
